Rock tide pools appear at low tide, safer for wading than the open beach.
Playa Barco Quebrado sits roughly halfway between Samara and Nosara, a tan-sand beach broken up by rocky outcrops and tide pools. Swimming is not recommended because of strong currents, but the tide pools that appear at low tide are a draw for wading and exploring with children.
Take Route 160 toward the Samara-Nosara coastal road; a small unpaved parking area marks the entrance, and a high-clearance vehicle is recommended for the rutted access road.

Volunteers join nightly beach patrols, relocate nests to a protected hatchery, and monitor Olive Ridley and Green turtles as part of a national network of ASVO turtle stations.
