Our standard
Costa Rica Directory builds to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, with WCAG 2.2 additions applied wherever practical. In plain terms, the site is designed to be perceivable, operable, and understandable without a mouse, without sound, and without perfect vision.
What that looks like here
- Every page starts with a skip-to-content link, in the language of the page.
- The structure uses semantic landmarks (navigation, main content, footer), so screen readers can move by region.
- Every page declares its language (English or Spanish), and the two language versions link to each other.
- Analytics only run if you accept them; decline and nothing loads.
- Animations respect your device's reduced-motion setting.
- Pages reflow to narrow screens, and pinch-zoom is never blocked.
- We use no accessibility overlay bar or widget; accessibility work happens in the site itself.
Known limitations
- Spanish coverage is still partial: some zones and pages are not yet translated, so certain links from Spanish pages currently lead to the English version.
- On Spanish pages, some legal links in the footer still point to the English versions. We are fixing this.
- The interactive map and the site search use third-party components we have not yet fully audited with a keyboard and screen reader. The same information always exists as text on the listing pages.
- Alternative text for listing photos is generated from business data and has not been hand-reviewed image by image.
