Golfito

A former United Fruit banana port stretched along the Golfo Dulce, now the service hub for Costa Rica's deep south and a well-known sportfishing base. The old American Zone, the duty-free Depósito Libre, and two marinas sit beneath steep rainforest that rises straight off the water.

Getting there

About 6 to 7 hours by car from San José down the Inter-American and Costanera highways, or a short flight to the Golfito (GLF) airstrip. Water taxis cross the gulf to Puerto Jiménez and the beach towns.

Feria days (farmers markets)

Golfito has no weekly feria of its own. The closest markets are listed below.

Feria days and hours shift with the season and holidays. We verify what we publish and never invent a date, but confirm locally before a special trip. See the full Costa Rica feria calendar.
