Playa Chiquita is a small, secluded beach roughly 4 kilometers southeast of Puerto Viejo, set back slightly from the road behind sea grape trees. Rock formations offshore break up the surf, creating calmer, shallow pools that make it more swimmable than neighboring Cocles. It sees fewer visitors than the beaches closer to town.
From Puerto Viejo, continue southeast on the coastal road past Cocles about 2 more kilometers; small unmarked pull-offs lead down to the sand.
