A community-based sea turtle conservation camp at Playa Hermosa, inside the Playa Hermosa-Punta Mala wildlife refuge south of Jaco, run by the organization First Hand Costa Rica since 2006. Participants patrol the beach at night for nesting olive ridley and other turtles, relocate eggs to a hatchery, and help release hatchlings, alongside beach and hatchery maintenance work. The program runs July through December during nesting and hatching season.
