Playa Agujas

A mellower longboard wave for days when Jacó and Playa Hermosa are blown out.

Playa Agujas is a small, low-key beach about 20 minutes north of Jacó near Punta Leona, set in a semi-protected bay with rocky shores and a river mouth at its south end where an estuary meets the ocean. It draws mostly local surfers and paddleboarders rather than tourists, offering gentler longboard-friendly waves when Jacó and Playa Hermosa are too big. The beach is short, walkable end to end in about 15 minutes, with a small informal community offering board rentals and lessons.
