Community sea turtle conservation program on Playa Platanares (locally called Playa Preciosa), a few kilometers from Puerto Jiménez, run by the nonprofit IDEHS in partnership with the Amazon Conservation Team. Visitors join night beach patrols to record nesting olive ridley, green, hawksbill, and leatherback turtles, or early morning hatchery releases where baby turtles are guaranteed to be seen. Reservations must be made at least two days in advance.
