Turtle nesting
A long stretch of sand about 5 km southeast of Puerto Jimenez, also known locally as Playa Preciosa, facing the Golfo Dulce with calm, swimmable water. It is a nesting site for three species of sea turtles and a regular spot for kayaking and birdwatching along the shore and adjacent wetlands.
About a 10 minute drive southeast from Puerto Jimenez on a mostly unpaved road.

COPROT runs paid morning and night patrol tours to spot nesting olive ridley and Pacific green turtles, plus a VIP overnight package with a stay at their Carate base camp, and registers roughly 7,000 nests per season.
