Blue Flag beach
A cobblestone-point beach at Cabo Matapalo, the southern tip of the Osa Peninsula, known for a right-hand wave that peels over a mostly sand-covered reef for 150 to 200 meters on a good day. It needs a solid south to southwest swell to break well, and it is better suited to intermediate surfers and longboarders than beginners. It holds a Bandera Azul Ecologica flag with two white stars and one pink star.
About a 45 minute to 1 hour drive south from Puerto Jimenez on mostly unpaved road, 4x4 recommended in the wet season.
