A small tidal island at the south end you can walk to at low tide.
Playa Dominicalito is a sheltered cove a few minutes south of Dominical, historically a launch point for artisanal fishing boats. The water is calmer than at Dominical, with tide pools exposed at low tide and rideable waves from mid to high tide, making it popular for beginner surf lessons and families. A small island off the southern point can be reached on foot at low tide.
A few kilometers south of Dominical on the Costanera Sur, turn in across from the Dominicalito soccer field, or use the second entrance near La Parcela restaurant.

Alturas has rescued roughly 210 species of native Costa Rican wildlife and runs guided tours, internships and volunteer programs alongside its rehabilitation work.
