Playa Dominical is a roughly 4 kilometer stretch of dark sand facing the open Pacific, backed by the small surf town of the same name. It holds some of the most consistent beach-break waves in Central America, drawing surfers of all levels, but strong currents make it a poor choice for casual swimming. The beach fronts the town's restaurants, surf schools, and hotels.
Cross the Baru River bridge on the Costanera Sur and turn into Dominical town; the main street runs straight to the beach.

Non-profit wildlife rescue center between Dominical and Uvita, adjacent to the Savegre Biosphere Reserve and the Paso de la Danta biological corridor connecting the coast to the Osa Peninsula. Alturas has rescued roughly 210 species of native Costa Rican wildlife and runs guided tours, internships and volunteer programs alongside its rehabilitation work.
