Playa Colonia, also called Playa Chaman, is a sandy beach within Marino Ballena National Park favored by locals and surf schools over the busier Uvita entrance. From here it is possible to walk the full length of the beach to the Whale's Tail sandbar at low tide. It is a common spot for beginner surf lessons out of Uvita.
